D-Compressed at Kenwood Gardens

In collaboration with The Rebuild Foundation, D-Composed brought their music & meditation series D-Compressed to the vibrant Kenwood Gardens.

Kicking off the event was Camesha Jones of Sista Afya spoke about the importance of music being a source of healing and respite from our trials. The audience reflected on the healing and transformative power of music.

Following the talk, Asia Jones of Trap Yoga opened up with a grounding meditation and performed on the sound bowls throughout the program.

The soundscape for the evening highlighted the contributions of Black women & nonbinary composers with musical selections from artists such as Janelle Monae, Jill Scott, and Lianne La Havas. The music spoke to themes such as discovery, heartbreak, and self-love.

Attendees made the experience their own, whether they wanted to listen, close their eyes, or younger attendees’ case; dance.
