2024 Election Day Storytime

On the eve of the election, we considered how D-Composed could support our community. We decided to host a special Election Day storytime at Woodson Regional Library.

Knowing that the day brought a sense of anxiety and worry, we invited storyteller Mama Edie. We had our string trio perform an original score by Ahmed Al Abaca, set to Jacqueline Woodson’s “The Year We Learned to Fly.”

For a short time, children experienced a sense of hope and possibility as they learned about music and storytelling.

Although we were uncertain about the day's outcome, we focused on creating a joyful space for our community.
