Echoes of Healing

To commemorate the 10-year anniversary of Ferguson and pay tribute to Breonna Taylor, we hosted a music & reflection experience, “Echoes of Healing,” in collaboration with multi-instrumentalist and sound artist BSA Gold and Frank Morris.

The event coincided with the Echoes of Ferguson exhibit, curated by Lola Ogbara at the Social Justice gallery at UIC.

The event was held on the anniversary of the murder of Breonna Taylor on March 13th, 2025, and served as a space of remembrance and reflection on the impact of Ferguson, as well as all the lives lost to police brutality.

D-Composed ensemble members & BSA Gold created a soundscape featuring original compositions by BSA Gold as well as moments of improvisation.

The music captured the emotions of activists, expressing tensions and incorporating audio from interviews with Ferguson activists. Attendees heard excerpts throughout the performance.
